New Week

My weekend went in a flash !! the highlight was the Sandown Quilt show - lots of pics to upload - no time as yet.

We got there about 10 am and left after 3 pm cream crackered.  bought a few bits -  will show soon.  My favourite buy was a book by Mandy Shaw.  Stitch with Love.  its time for some serious stitching now.  All the patterns are lovely.  Just need to get started.  We met Mandy who was off to Glastonbury this week for bunting making.  Lets hope the rain holds off.

Lots of prep this week for hols next week to Devon cooking to be done clothes to be washed and packed. Phew do you ever think its hard work just to get going?   So back at work for this week off  Then off next week - Yesssss !   Not sure whether there will be much time for sewing stitching or crafting of any kind  just yet.  So maybe I will just relax when I've time and seek out inspiration and making ideas.  Bye for now.   Pics soon  M x

Its the weekend !! hurrah

What a day  but now .....  sigh !  its the weekend.

I've got a new quilt idea going round in my head. I have to admit I do have a few WIPs to finish.  But i'm waiting for the right backing.  hmm hmmm

I want to do a stripey type quilt.  Ive seen one I covet on a blog and I'm keen to make one similar.  Its the type where you cut all the strips together   mix up - sew together and it kinda looks stripey.  I will try and find and attach if I decide to get started.

Back to work

Back to work today - weather here wet and wild.  Work dull. Im still sniffing and coughing but feeling better.

Home now to a nice clean house - all quiet, neat, tidy and when its like this I don't want to dirty it up by getting out all the sewing stuff.  Do you feel like that ?  When I have my own sewing space (soon) it might be different I can leave it all messy  until then   threads on the rug - fabric all over - will have to wait - til tomorrow maybe.  I want to keep the calm of the clean house for just a few more hours.

Whilst lazing with feet up cup of tea in hand  I mean gathering inspiration for future projects - I've found a couple of great sites for embroidery  - I will add them to my links  have a look over - there are some great ideas.

Lost Voice

And since starting my new blog ive lost my voice literally.  got a really bad sore throat and cold and feeling sorry for myself !  not been to work today - stayed in bed most of the day - nose dripping and sucking cough sweets smelling of Vick !  and we know what that smells like.  

Anyway as Im feeling poorly I thought I would try my hand at uploading some quilt pics -  here we go. 

 

This is a little quilt i made for Sophie when she was first born - for her crib.  Its been washed quite a few times now and now looks all lovely and crinkley.

I would love to make huge quilts but only seem so far to be up to little ones and medium sizes.   This one is particularly small as its for a crib but Ive made a few bigger ones   Ill show you some more later. 

Not sure of all the fabrics in this one  some Tanya Whelan Darla Rose I think and I love that little bird fabric don't you ?

Do you save your fabrics and treat them as precious ?  Even though I want to make lovely things from my fabric stash   part of me cannot bear to cut it up !  are you the same ?

Where do you quilt and sew ?  Unfortunately me Im at the dining room table no specially kitted out space for me yet.  Notice I say yet   I have plans around this   more to come later.

Beginnings

Hello and welcome to my new blog. 

This blog is to chat about my life,  my sewing and my quilting projects.  I know there’s loads of blogs about quilting but hopefully this is going to be a great one !!

I work full time -and never have enough time for all the crafting ideas and quilts in my head!  Im a grandma to two little uns and l love spending time with them.  I live in a little house .......  south of London.

Im an inexperienced quilter ...... i started sewing to take my thoughts away from the death of my lovely Mum ........ and I got hooked. (or should I say patched  ..... he he)     I will exhibit some of my productions shortly when Ive got to grips with  blogger -   so that may be some time !

Im looking forward to going to Sandown quilting exhibition this weekend.  I’m sure I will add to my fabric stash although am trying to be really good and only use up what Ive got - some vintage fabrics and lots bought in the first flush of quilting.  But Im looking forward to be inspired.    More soon.
